Guyana's first Stock Market was launched by the Guyana Association of Securities Companies & Intermediaries Inc. (GASCI) on 30^th June, 2003 and the Hand-in-Hand Trust Corporation Inc. has registered with GASCI as a Stockbroker.

Only companies registered as reporting issuers with the Guyana Securities Council (GSC), the body established by the Guyana government to oversee the development of the capital market, would have their shares traded on the stock exchange.  

Eleven (11) companies have registered and they are:

• Demerara Bank

• National Bank of Industry & Commerce Limited (NBIC)

• Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry Limited (GBTI)

• Citizens Bank

• Demerara Distillers Limited

• Banks DIH Limited                                                       

• Guyana Stockfeeds Limited

• Demerara Tobacco Company Limited

• Sterling Products Limited

• JP Santos

• Caribbean Containers Inc.
